Combustion

The ultrasonic nozzle is imbedded inside fuel injectors or combustion lances that are designed for diesel fuel, bunker fuel or even heavier fuels. The oscillating motion of the ultrasonic device imparts ultrasonic pulses in the fuel that cause improved atomization, jet and plume breakup, and air entrainment – all of which can lead to better combustion efficiency. To date these applications are still under development, but we welcome interested parties who might derive value from this technology.

Emulsifying

Fiber Extrusion

The ultrasonic nozzle increases the flow of molten polymers through an orifice, which might be useful in a fiber extrusion and/or melt-spun process. The high-frequency motion applied to the liquid at the exit orifice can effectively heat materials and enable higher flow rates. Alternatively, this heating can enable running extruders at lower temperatures to reduce energy demand or effectively extrude temperature-sensitive polymers at lower temperatures.
